You can give this one as well, or keep it for yourself. Our toll-free number is 888-665-7841. Hope to hear from you!

Last 1st Saturday

Tomorrow is the last first Saturday class for 2009. We were discussing how long we've been doing this. We think it was 2000. The colors were blue and yellow. Let me know if you know when we started. The 2010 colors are going to be a choice of red/white or black/white. The ladies that come and sew on Thursdays, worked on sample blocks for our 2010 quilt. They all have a star motif and turned out very pretty. Thank you Norma, Janice, Mary, Shirley, Darlene and Ree!

"Stonehenge" from Northcott just arrived today. It has wonderful color combinations and textures. You'll have to see it to believe it.

Just a reminder...we can mail gift certificates to anywhere, so if someone doesn't know what to get you for Christmas, a gift certificate is one size fits all.

Keep Warm

New fabric arrived today!

Today we received 25 new bolts of batiks and 9 more bolts of reds and whites. We are all stocked up, ready to start cutting blocks for the 2010 $5 quilt. All we have to decide is the pattern. We will keep the first one simple, maybe even a nine patch.

The batiks are fun too. Black with hot pink, black with lime green, all sorts of colors, ready for you to come see.

Getting Ready

We've been busy getting the store ready for this weekend. Vicky and I spent yesterday, re-hanging the store. Tuesday, we will work on the classroom. Helen and Jane helped finish unpacking and Vicky got the postage on the post cards and got them in the mail.

Our 2010 Block of the Months were revealed today. We have three to choose from, or you can participate in all three. The $5 club will be a choice of red/white or black/white, with an ocean waves center medallion, a border of seminole piecing and an outside border of flying geese. The traditional block of the month is an all-inclusive club which includes borders, binding, backing and batting. The 3rd club will use Vicky's "Garden Nouveau" book and will be all applique. These selections include options for all.

Come and see the shop in all of it's Christmas glory!

Another Day in Des Moines

The Overbrook Quilt Connection booth is across the aisle from the AQS booth at the front of the arena. The AQS booth sells quilt books and other AQS items. On Wednesday we found out that Vicky's new AQS book, Garden Noveau, had arrived at the quilt show. We told the AQS staff that we had the quilt with us that is showcased in the book. They asked if they could hang the quilt and so it was hung behind the AQS booth. Vicky's book was sold-out at the show by today. The quilt is so beautiful and many quilters stopped to take a close-up look.

It's Thursday in Des Moines

This is the Overbrook Quilt Connection booth before the arena opened on Thursday. Vicky's quilts are the main focus with her patterns on the front display. The Iowa quilters purchase many of Vicky's patterns. Other big sellers at the show include the Bohin mechanical chalk pencil, QuiltSmart cell phone panels, the three pocket purse, and grommets.
A busload of quilters from Wisconsin is staying at the same hotel as Roxane and Jane. We have met quilters from several Midwestern states and many from Kansas that we know. We are looking forward to Friday. Come join us in Des Moines at AQS.

Hello from the Des Moines AQS Quilt Show!

This is the view of the Overbrook Quilt Connection booth before set-up. Roxane and Jane arrived in Des Moines about 3 pm on Monday and then sat in the marshaling yard for over two hours while waiting their turn to unload the trailer at the docks. It really did not take long to unload and takes the supplies to the booth. On
Tuesday they completed booth set-up in about 4 hours and then had time to do a little shopping.
Today is Wednesday and our first day of vending is complete. We had many lookers today and an ample number of buyers. Vicky Lawrence's patterns continue to be a big seller. The quilters also like the Bohin mechanical chalk pencil, the three pocket purse, and the cell phone bags. Tomorrow I will post picture of Vicky's applique quilt that is featured in her new book that arrived at the AQS booth today.

Home Again (for a short while)

We are on the way home from Houston. Spent the night in Dallas and stopping by P & B to pick up our $5 finishing kit fabrics. We have this week to get ready to leave for Des Moines on Monday.

We are bringing home lots of new patterns, a new quilt hanging system and bead bracelet kits. We will try to get the new stuff out this week into the store. All the things that have been ordered will be in by the shop hop/open house in November.

So come see the new product and us.

Hello from Houston. Just a note to say we are in booth 1830 if you come to the Quilt Festival. Today was the first full day and we are already out of the fusible cell phone bags. Tomorrow we will probably run out of the Bohin Marking Pencil. I have been sitting in the hotel room working on my order to be ready to take to Des Moines next week. We will get home from Houston on Monday and leave for Des Moines the next Monday. We've seen lots of pretty quilts and I'm bringing home another way to hang quilts. This is even better than the one I brought home last year. Come to our open house in November to see the new things from market. Bedtime calls. Goodnight, Roxane

Fall dates to remember

Well, we are coming down to the wire. We leave for Houston on October 8. We still need to pack and load the trailer. I have one more order to get in and then we should be ready to pack.

This weekend is the first Saturday of the month, so we can expect to see all those club members, bright and early. Only three more months left, it's hard to believe. Next years five dollar club is going to be a choice between red and white or black and white. It will have a center medallion, with rows and rows going around. The corner blocks of each row will be the $5.00 blocks and the borders will be in finishing kits. We are toying with the idea of multiple kits throughout the year, so there won't be a major expense at the end of the year.

Also, we are taking enrollments for next years Block of the Month. It is from Timeless Treasures and is called "Back to Nature". The colors are warm and cozy, with pine cones and leaves. The border stripe is very unique and will be a nice finish to your quilt. The cost for this club is $25 per month. This fee includes all the fabrics for the blocks, borders, and binding as well as batting and shipping.

Mark your calendars for the Maple Leaf Festival, October 17-18. We will be open on that Sunday from 1-5. For those of you who have never been to Maple Leaf, you don't know what you have been missing! The whole town turns into craft and food vendor booths. There is a parade on Saturday morning and a quilt show in the old grade school. Lots of good ideas and stuff to buy. We are not open very many Sundays, so you will want to take advantage of that. Postcards will be going out shortly to our local mailing list. Let us know if you would like to receive our mailings, either by email or snail mail.

The end of October finds us traveling to Des Moines, Iowa for the AQS show. We should have Vicky's new book by then, so we will be showing off her fantastic applique quilt. If you don't get to see it in Des Moines, it will be up for our open house in November. If Vicky is around, she'll be glad to sign it.

Another date to set aside on your calendars is our Christmas Open House and the "BBBETO" Deck the Walls Shop Hop, November 12-14, from 9-5. We will be showing off the new things we find at market as well as serving lunch, all three days from 11-2. You won't want to miss seeing us all dressed up for Christmas. We have a lot of quick and easy projects that make great gifts for your secret pals and other special people in your life.

Well, life continues on and I'm off to change light bulbs. I don't like to get the ladder out very often, so I've waited until I have more than one to change, many more.

Hope to see you soon, either in the store or on the road

Getting ready to head to Pittsburg, Kansas

I was reminded last night at the quilt guild meeting (thank you Emily) that I had not blogged for quite awhile, so here goes:

We are heading for Pittsburg this weekend for the Little Balkans Quilt Show. They always have very nice quilts and wonderful vendors. We will be demonstrating our fusible cell phone bags, the fabric greeting cards, and of course, the Bohin Chalk Marking Pencil. If you have not used this pencil, you are really missing out. It glides on smoothly, stays the same width through the whole marking process and removes easily. But, not no easily that it will disappear before you are ready.

We finally have extras of the bobbin holders and the new Clover thimbles. It is so exciting to be able to talk about new toys, that of course we all need in our sewing rooms. The class schedule is heading to the web page in a couple of days. I don't have all the dates confirmed yet, but you will be able to see what the choices are going to be.

I have even gotten to sew lately, making two of the "Grids and Grommets" tote bags for friends. It is fun to ignore paper work for a while and sew. Hope to see all of you soon, whether in Pittsburg, in the shop or further on down the road.

Happy Quilting!

Poker Run Week

We are home from Bartlesville and we had a really great show. The quilts were gorgeous and the quilters were friendly and very interested in the "Bohin" marking pencil, the new suction cup handle for smaller rulers and the four-sided placemats. We ran out of all of them. I'm reordering today, so they should be back in stock for the weekend.

This week is the Poker Run, so we will expect to see a lot of you in the shop, picking up your playing card.

We will leave Sunday for Knoxville. If the traveling goes well, we might even have some time off for sightseeing, since I've never been to that particular area. Let me know if there is something we need to make a point of seeing.

I got home just minutes before our oldest son and his family arrived home from Branson. We had to hear all of their stories, the adult version, the 6-year old version, the 4-year old version and the 2-year olds version. Grandchildren are great!

Well, I'm off to work to get the ordering done. See you soon!

Heading to Bartlesville, Oklahoma

We are leaving Thursday to vend at the quilt show in Bartlesville (actually Dewey Fairgrounds). The show is Friday and Saturday from 10-5. Come in our booth and tell us you read about it on the blog and we will give you a free gift.

Our newest gadget is the thimble from Clover. It is soft-sided, so it is comfortable, but it will also be helpful for pulling the needle through (like a needle grabber). Everyone has fallen in love with it the moment they try it on.

July 11-18 is our Poker Run. Visit all six shops and pick up a playing card. Make your best hand and the winner gets a gift certificate from each of the six shops. No passports, no kits, no blocks, just good fun.

July 22-25 we will be in Knoxville, TN at the AQS show. We will also have free gifts there if you mention the blog. Barb and Norma will be attending with me and Norma will be demonstrating all the cool gadgets we have.

Stay cool and come see us.

The fat quarter sale has been a popular event this month. We are cutting more even as I type. Come in and join the fun.

The class schedule is up and on the website. Lots of fun things to do this summer. While you are in Overbrook, don't forget to visit the gift shop, the flower shop, have lunch at Wheatstate and have dessert at the BP (they have great ice cream).

We have some new purse samples and new gadgets that you won't want to miss as well as new fabrics.

C-ya soon,
Roxane

Summer is Here!

Happy Summer! I think it is finally here. Our class schedule is due to be out soon, we have tons of new fabric and are currently making plans for the BBBETO Poker Run, July 11-18.

The weather is getting warm enough outside to start staying inside to quilt. Purses continue to be a hot item. We have just received our sample of the Grommet Bag and it has received lots of attention.

June is my stay at home month, so I think we will have a fat quarter frenzy. On Fridays and Saturdays for the month of June, we will be selling fat quarters at 25 for $25 in increments of 25. What a great way to experiment with colors you don't normally use, broaden your horizons, etc.

July will be a traveling month, with a show in Bartlesville/Dewey, OK and Knoxville, TN. You will not be disappointed with either of these shows.

Just arrived is our new favorite toy. It is a bobbin holder from Clover. Each ring holds 5 bobbins and the whole package holds 30. If you need to take small amounts in your sewing bag, like for applique, you can pop off one of the rings and take it with you.

Enjoy your summer, and come see us

Thanks to all who brought canned goods to the store this weekend. The $1 fat quarters per can of soup will continue through the month of February.

For those of you who didn't know, Carolyn passed away last month. We will continue to miss her for a long, long time. Our thoughts are with her children, Marc, Matt, Melinda and Mike.

I'm very excited about the class schedule for the winter. All the projects are easy to make and most can be finished in class. Let us know if there are classes that you would like to see in the summer class schedule.

My husband won a trip to Orlando, so we will leave on Wednesday. Be sure and stop in and keep Vicky company while I am gone.

Great Day in Oklahoma City

We had a great day today at the Winter Quilt Show in Oklahoma City. Other than the charge card machine not working (we had to re-program it after the show closed), the day went very well. Everyone is so friendly and we saw some familiar faces. Hope the rest of the week goes as well.

I want to extend our condolences to Carolyn Meerian's family. Carolyn passed away on Tuesday, January 6. She was a great partner as we started our business and through the years. We will definitely miss her.

Happy New Year

Well, Christmas has come and gone and we are ready to start a new year. Check out our website and click on clubs to see our block of the months for 2009. We are in the middle of inventory and packing to go to Oklahoma City on Wednesday. The Winter Oklahoma City Quilt Show starts on Thursday, January 8 and runs through January 10. Then we will be headed home.

January 22 starts my vacation. We will be headed to Kauai with two other couples from our church. The plan is to spend 2 days on Oahu, then spend 7 days on Kauai. Everybody needs to keep Vicky busy while I am gone.

The class schedule is in process, so keep checking the website for details.
